Sausalito sees large seasonal influxes of tourists visiting the city by bicycle.
The large numbers of tourist bicycles present a unique challenge to a downtown Sausalito area that is already crowded with visitors arriving by car or bus.
To mediate public safety concerns, the City of Sausalito has placed bicycle parking racks throughout various popular locations in the downtown area for cyclists to safely park and enjoy the downtown area.
Please refrain from riding your bicycle on city sidewalks and the ferry landing waterfront area.
If you are planning to take the ferry with your bicycle, please walk your bicycle to the designated bicycle line to board the ferry.
Downtown Bicycle Parking Area
If you plan to visit downtown Sausalito by bicycle, please refer to this map to familiarize yourself with where the bicycle parking racks are located.
All of the bicycle parking racks in the downtown area are located within a short walk to all of the downtown attractions.
If the bicycle rack you want to park at is full, please go to the next closest rack to find and open slot.
DO NOT park your bicycle in a non-bicycle parking rack or designated area. Doing so, the bicycle will be subject to being impounded.
Bicycle parking in any of the designated bicycle racks or designated area is free.

Bicycle Ambassadors
Bicycle parking attendants are available during the peak season (April -September) to help assist with parking and answer questions.
Please look for the neon yellow vests.
Only Park in Designated Bicycle Parking Areas
The Sausalito Police Department encourages residents and visitors to refrain from parking bicycles anywhere downtown other than designated bicycle racks or fixed bicycle racks.
Sausalito City Ordinance No. 1222 authorizes the City to impound improperly parked bicycles and to charge a $25 impound release fee.
Downtown bicycle parking enforcement hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
